FRAUD PREVENTION NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

By law, the Register of Deeds office does not verify the validity or legitimacy of recorded documents.

However, we can provide you with additional technology services that can make you aware of when documents are recorded in your name.

The Fraud Prevention Notification Service is provided to Stanly County property owners at no charge. When you register with this system, you will receive email notifications for all property documents you record with the Stanly County Register of Deeds... and all those you DIDN'T record!

North Carolina ranks 22nd in the nation for identity theft. There are 67 complaints each year for every 100,000 people. While instances of this crime in Stanly County are low, if this service can protect just one person from Property Fraud, it would be well worth the time it takes to fill out the simple form.
